On a sign! My father’s family lived at a place called Bermuda Hundred. I always thought it odd that a place in Virginia should be called Bermuda. So, one hot summer’s day, a friend and I just punched the location coordinates into GPS and drove to Bermuda Hundred. There is a sign, two actually, that explained how the place got its name: from the survivors of the Sea Venture who were marooned on Bermuda who then created this community. That was the first time I had ever heard of the Sea Venture or its connection to Shakespeare’s The Tempest.
